Hello
New to the group and I have some questions.
My home has radiant floor heat, subfloor with poured gypcrete.
The I have one room that is very cool and others that seem ok, although some are warmer than others.
There a two manifolds, each manifold has a valve that is connected to a thermostat. One manifold has 8 loops, (this one has the very cool room) and one manifold has 5 loops.
The 8 loop manifold has loops of # 1, 272 ft, #2 is 219 ft, #3 is 249 ft, #4 is 290, #5 is 261 ft, #6 is 288 ft, #7 is 102 ft, and #8 is 246 ft.
Loop #1 is the cool one and it is a bedroom with carpet.
First off none of the valve caps are installed. Do they need to be on and snug for the valve to work? I have read that when the black insert is turned all the way in = valve closed, is this correct? And when the black insert is flush with the housing is if full open, is this correct?
The inserts seem to be at various positions, yet the lengths on most are similar. How can I get to a good starting place for tuning the loops?
THanks

Loop 7 is likely hogging some flow if you are not restricting it using the balancing valve.

Start by turning the currently warm loops halfway to closed, with all loops starting at full open. then continue to adjust warm loops down to see if cool loops improve. If the previously warm loops stop keeping up, you went too far.

if these are the "black caps" modular style manifolds that use the caps turned upside down as turning keys, two full turns from closed is full open..
