anyone know of any GOOD strap on thermometers?

we've tried out a few and they all seem to have 4 to 8 degrees variance in readings.

This may not be what you want to here, and you may laugh, but a cheap solution I took a digital indoor outdoor thermometer, and used the outdoor sensor as my strap on. They are pretty darn accurate from thermometer to thermometer, and cheap. You can get more instantanious readings if you carefully remove the casing from the probe.

interesting gordon. i'll have to play with that.

thanks morgan, but even with grease they don't seem particularly accurate.

Are you really looking for true temp accuracy Rob, or accuracy as far as from thermometer to thermometer?

I mean as far as readings in the system supply, and return you are probably more interested in accurate delta t reading verses a couple degrees on actual water temps....with in reason of course

The only thing about the thermometers I mentioned most only top out at 120 to 125 degrees.

consistency, mostly. though temperature accuracy would be great, at the very least we could ask for consistency.

It is a problem, I have given up on them for the most part and use my IF religiously. Honewell makes a unit, but I have to get one out of the truck for the numbers...
