Hello Everyone, I am sorry if I am repeating what anyone has posted already, but I was using warmsource from Rehau and I did my calcs and everything and found that my total system cost for materials alone is $10-$12 SF. My question to anyone knowlegable is how much am I in for when installing such a system?? any good alternative companies? I have a ~3300 SF Ranch with about 2200 sf of radiant heat install. No Basement Cement Slab throughout the entire house.
Thanks, SLK_VIK This message has been edited. Last edited by: SLK_VIK, |

is this a retrofit?
just wondering why you aren't piping the slab itself. ------------------------------ -=Northeast Radiant Technology, LLC=- Radiant Design, supply and consultation services. www.NRTradiant.com |

Thank you for the response, Yes, It is a retrofit, the house previously had radiant heating when it was constructed (~1957) but the poured method was using galvanized steel pipe so it rotted out.

Is aluminum on top of concrete even an option? JB

I believe they recommend a vapor barrier, which would also keep the aluminum out of contact with the concrete.
I would generally in a slab retrofit recommend Roth panel, or an insulating layer prior to whatever retrofit product you use. Assuming the slab itself is not already insulated. House that old, I suppose it's too much to hope for that it is already insulated... ------------------------------ -=Northeast Radiant Technology, LLC=- Radiant Design, supply and consultation services. www.NRTradiant.com |
