I just tried to ajust room censors, as the temperature came down. None of the heaters did not seem to be working. so I checked the boiler. Its pressure was zero.I press thepressure reducing fill valve(the green valve), several times.Suddenly, water streamcame out from the out let and continue to dripping. It does not stop. Then I switch off the unit and after some time switched on, and looked at the digital pressure meter. It gradually went up, and exceeded 150. I thought it was a problem, and switched off again. The water dripping is still continuing at the rate of about 1 gallon per hour. Can somebody explain me what is going on with my boiler. It is only 3 and half years old.Thanks.
Most PRV valve have a fast fill that over rides the reduced pressure part of the valve. It is used for filling and purging the system at a higher rate of fill. Quite possible the fast fill is still on. 150 psi. is a lot. If you have 150 psi coming into the house you will need to reduce it to 70 psi max. It dosen't take much of a leak or drip to reduce the pressure in a closed loop system. If your PRV valve is stuck or not working properly even the smallest of leak will drop the pressure in the system to zero. Have your house pressure, PRV and leak checked out. If you are not savvy in the boiler world hire someone who is. JB
Correct, I was thinking of a backflow device. If you have a backflow device it can get stuck and drip but it should not change the system pressure unless it is ahead of the PRV. JB
