GlowCore boilers and furnaces were a true breakthrough when first introduced to the market in the mid 1980's. Compact, wall-hung, sealed combustion and when properly applied and installed (a fairly rare occurrence) served well for their expected life cycle (about 20 years).

However, setting aside the fact that GlowCore proper has been out of the business for a number of years and the boilers are beyond their serviceable life, they can be a very serious health hazard if neglected or serviced by those who lack certified factory training (not available since 1993).

If you have a GlowCore boiler still in service, now is the time to take advantage of the many very fine ModCon boilers available today.

They are all safer, quieter and more efficient.

As you continue to rely upon the unreliable, take particular note of signs of over heating, including discolored PVC vent pipes, charred hot spots on left side of boiler cabinets and rumbling or whining noise on shutdown.

If your boiler displays these symptoms please do not leave the house while the system is operating, replace old or questionable CO/smoke detectors and don't forget to say your prayers.
