Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that a radiant ceiling will warm the parallel surfaces in a room via infrared radiation. In concept this sounds pretty interesting (kind of hard for me to wrap my little brain around); however, I don't find nearly as much discussion on this topic as with radiant floors. Given that conduction doesn't play a part in heating the space and it's objects, is efficiency or the quality of the heating experience compromised?

Does it follow that you could achieve a semblance of a warm floor (certainly not as warm as radiant floor) but at least warmer than by going with forced air? We have 9 foot ceilings, does this distance reduce the amoount heat transfer?

Is heat stratification similar, better, or worse to forced air? My concern is that we will end with hot heads and cold feet.

Can anybody share their experience either living with or installing radiant ceilings?

Thanks,
jws
