This site in awesome! I've got a question if anyone could help......is a dielectric sepration needed between cast iron pump flanges and copper pipe? If so, how is this achived?

Kind of the same question: is dielectric separation needed between a braized plated heat exchanger and copper pipe?....if so how?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, thanks for the reply! I was unsure if galvonic activity could occur when using O2 barrier pex, but was unsure. When I didn't get any answers from you guys I called the techy at the HX manuf. After a bit of stumbling and "hums" he did confirm that dielectic separation is not needed. His reason was a bit different. He said it was not needed because of the non-ferrous nature of the stainless steel case of the HX. I have not been able to talk to a techy at the Manuf. of the pump flanges yet. I guess no need to now. Thanks again.

I've wondered the same thing.I think no problem between stainless steel and copper, but between cast iron and copper, I would put in a brass nipple, even if it is a closed system.
